An Internal Revenue Service advisory failed to slow a taxpayer stampede to prepay property taxes by year-end, before the federal tax overhaul takes effect, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. And some accountants say the IRS advisory won’t matter much, in Cook County at least.
“What can I tell you?” Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas said. “Ask your accountant!”
