Your canceled check is your receipt. Within a week, verify that your check clears with your bank. You may verify the posting of your tax payment at this website by clicking on "Payment Status" and entering the 14-digit PIN.
Under state law, only U.S.P.S. postmarks (not metered dates) may be used to determine whether payments are timely and to determine whether penalties are due.
Mailed payments may be returned if they lack adequate information for processing, such as the PIN, or the original payment coupon and/or the identity of the person(s) or entity submitting the payment.
It is recommended that companies intending to make numerous individual payments and need duplicate bills in order to do so, utilize our TPA Program. Please see the TPA site at http://tpa.cookcountytreasurer.com/ for additional information.
